Development of Multiple Planning Strategies Based on Project Implementation Results
Challenge
Metropolitan Council office of Environmental Services partnered with Aguazé Solutions to evaluate and optimize the long-term strategy for system improvements needed to serve future flow projections within the City of Minneapolis Interceptor System. Uncertainty surrounding the project assumptions for future population, water usage, I/I reduction effectiveness, and climate change led to a large range of projects to be considered for implementation.
Solution
Aguazé Solutions implemented Optimizer WCS from Optimatics to evaluate the total life cycle costs of tens of thousands solution combinations. Potential solutions were further analyzed through sensitivities to determine the impact of an assumption on the overall strategy. The conservative strategy was then prioritized for implementation over 5 priority stages.
Estimated Cost Range
$73-175M
